> Short Fiction by P. G. Wodehouse

## Answer

Short Fiction by P. G. Wodehouse develops Social Class and Ambition across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Characters frequently navigate class distinctions, whether through the struggles of a younger son working in a bank while pursuing writing, the pretensions of the wealthy, or the desire to rise above one's station, often with comedic or poignant results.

The arrival of George Barnert Callender and Rutherford's struggles reflect the characters' ambitions and the social hierarchies of the time.

Clarence's fall from aristocratic wealth and his decision to work as a professional footballer underscore class mobility and ambition.

George's love for Lady Julia Waveney is thwarted by class barriers, as he realizes an insurance clerk cannot marry a titled aristocrat despite his legacy.
