## Snapshot

A blue-eyed, orphaned cutter's daughter who steps off a downtown car into Manhattan with a dollar and a letter as her only fortune.

## Who they are

Elsie Leeson leaves rural New York after her father's death and an eviction, armed with a cheap but well-cut tan coat, $1, and Mr. Otter's outdated letter. Her innocence is both her charm and her vulnerability as the city's roar and snares close around her. She matters because her search for the firm's new address sets her on a collision course with a kind stranger from Idaho and the pitfalls the civic guardians patrol.
