# Paul Koslov — Short Fiction character guide

> Paul Koslov in Short Fiction by Mack Reynolds.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Revolution Paul Koslov, Koslov

**First appearance:** 0007-potential-enemy

## Snapshot

A revolutionary known as Revolution Paul Koslov, whose name carries enough weight to unsettle the security apparatus of a state that fears what its thinkers might say.

## Who they are

Koslov exists in the story as a force felt before he is seen — a figure whose reputation for upheaval shapes how ministers and colonels read even routine reports. Around him, the machinery of surveillance grinds on: clubs of engineers and scientists are broken up for the crime of free discussion, and men like Simonov carry out the work with weary efficiency. He matters because he gives a name and a direction to the discontent that the book's orderly, stratified world keeps trying to bury.
