## Who they are

Khorre is the frightened, reluctant companion pressed against the church window while Haggart's organ music pours out of the darkness. He complains that his hand is being broken, that he sees nothing, that he understands nothing, yet he stays and listens, half-submissive, half-defiant. His ordinary fear and blunt disbelief give the story a human counterweight to Noni's ecstatic torment, making the music's power feel real precisely because Khorre cannot feel it.
