# How does Short Fiction develop the theme of Desire and Temptation?

> Short Fiction by Kate Chopin

## Answer

Short Fiction by Kate Chopin develops Desire and Temptation across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Forbidden or overwhelming desire drives many plots, from the locksmith's infatuation in 'Mamzelle Fleurette' to the fisherman's obsession in 'At Chênière Caminada.'

The desperate man is tempted by death and prepares poison, but the music redirects his desire toward life and hope.

Offdean resists the temptation of a risky investment, preferring to keep his money safe while he contemplates his next move.

Offdean and Euphrasie's growing intimacy during their woodland rides and the rainstorm scene hints at romantic attraction.
