## Who they are

Sir Arthur T⸺n is a man of standing whose orderly life is disrupted by an encounter with the supernatural that he cannot explain away. The visitation leaves him shaken in a way that his position and temperament make him ill-equipped to conceal or process. His experience becomes one of the story's central testimonies to the reality of the uncanny, and his struggle to reconcile what he has seen with what he believes gives the tale its anxious, unsettled pulse.
