## Who they are

Ned Dwyer is a handsome, defiant youth whose generous ire and whiskey punch make him an easy mark for Bullly Larkin's calculated malice. When the challenge is thrown, he accepts without hesitation, and the whole town turns out to watch the mismatched combat in Phoenix Park. His refusal to yield, even as his body is battered beyond recognition, marks him as a figure of tragic pride—a life extinguished by the very courage that made him beloved.
