A wealthy American who has spent a lifetime working and now sets out to enjoy Europe, only to find his carefully planned pleasures hollow.

## Who they are

The Gentleman of San Francisco has spent decades amassing a fortune and now rewards himself with a grand tour of Europe, Egypt, and Japan, bringing along his wife and unmarried daughter. He moves through luxury liners and grand hotels with the confidence of a man who believes wealth buys ease, planning each city and pleasure with the precision of a businessman.
