Phildee is a towheaded, chubby child whose mind runs calculations he's too young to bother finishing, and whose only model of 'Mother' is a frantic voice and a hyperthyroid heartbeat from before birth. When Riya's warm, wordless caress reaches him, his rational defenses collapse into instinct, and he grips her flank fur as they walk toward the plain. His surrender matters because it transforms Riya's shameful journey into triumph — and quietly rewrites what family can mean across species.
