# Saul Duncan — Short Fiction character guide

> Saul Duncan in Short Fiction by Henry Kuttner.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Duncan, Saul

**First appearance:** 0000-the-secret-of-kralitz

## Snapshot

A hardened space pilot who turns his own cruiser into a trap, holding two men hostage on a course toward Pluto and the vengeance he intends to find there.

## Who they are

Saul Duncan has five years at Transpolar behind him and the conditioned reflexes that make him the only man aboard who can land the cruiser. After Andrea's death, he relieves Olcott of his gun and points the ship toward Pluto, offering his prisoners the illusion of control while keeping the only real key. His cold, methodical fury makes him the story's driving force, a man who has decided he does not want to live long but intends to take as many Plutonians with him as he can.
