## Snapshot

An elderly farmer who witnessed the colour from outer space and carries the burden of what fell on the Gardner farm.

## Who they are

Old Ammi Pierce is the last living link to the strange events that blighted the Blasted Heath, a man whose memory holds the slow, terrible unfolding of the colour's influence on the Gardner family. His account, told to a visiting narrator, is the story's spine—patient, grieving, and unshakably specific. He matters because without his testimony the horror would be only rumor; through him it becomes a lived, irreversible fact.
