## Snapshot

A cultivated young woman traveling to Rome with two friends whose careful ideas about life and love are quietly unsettled by a fellow passenger.

## Who they are

Miss Winchelsea is the most refined and self-aware of three English girls abroad, fluent in French on paper but self-conscious in practice, and deeply invested in the idea that travel should be an educated experience. A young man who helps them at Calais and keeps appearing at their hotels becomes a silent test of her assumptions about class, romance, and what she actually wants. Her story turns on the gap between the life she has been taught to admire and the one that might genuinely move her.
