# Alexandra Ivanovna — Short Fiction character guide

> Alexandra Ivanovna in Short Fiction by Fyodor Sologub.

**Role:** supporting

**First appearance:** 0001-short-fiction

## Snapshot

A woman holding a household together with quiet competence, her domestic routines a thin shield against the boredom and menace pressing in from outside.

## Who they are

Alexandra Ivanovna presides over kitchens, corridors, and the small rituals that keep a Russian household legible to itself. Her practicality is genuine, but so is the fatigue beneath it, and Sologub lets us feel how much she suppresses to keep the peace. She matters because her ordinary endurance throws the stories' stranger currents into relief.
