## Snapshot

Whipcord-tough and laughing even on scorching rocks, Farraj is Lawrence's young servant whose elvish gaiety and stubborn pride make him both a trial and a treasure.

## Who they are

Farraj belongs to the small, ragged band of Arab irregulars who ride with Lawrence on raids, where he and his companion Daud are the ringleaders of every mischief. Punishment only irritates his muscles into wilder activity, and his refusal to yield on the hot rocks reveals a master-spirit wrapped in soft form. To Lawrence he is one of the sunlit beings on whom the world's shadow has not yet fallen, and his fate shadows the campaign's cost.
