A dockside fisherman who knows every creek and corner of the waterfront, and who leads Copplestone to a face that should not be there.

## Who they are

Spurge is a local with a theory of his own and the patience to work the wharves, public houses, and sail lofts until it pays off. He has faith in his own instincts where Copplestone has none, and he is proved right when he spots the skipper of the Pike hiding in a tug's hatchway. His knowledge of the coast makes him the story's eyes in the places the respectable cannot go.
