## Snapshot

The legendary prince of Kíev whose court is the magnetic center of Russian heroic song, where dragon-slayers, ambassadors, and feasts assemble.

## Who they are

Vladímir presides over the mythic Kíev of the bylíny, the fixed star around which Dobrýnya Nikítich and his fellow bogatýri orbit. His court is less a government than a stage: heroes arrive to prove themselves, ambassadors depart on errands, and the prince's favor or displeasure sets the stakes. He matters because he gives the scattered heroic tales a shared home and a shared audience, the hall where reputations are made.
