> Romance by Joseph Conrad

## Answer

Romance by Joseph Conrad develops Memory and Nostalgia across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The book opens with an epigraph and dedication that frame the story as a recollection, emphasizing how past events become romanticized over time, and the narrator frequently reflects on his memories of love and danger.

The epigraph directly addresses memory as a sacred, sleeping entity in the shadows, establishing a contemplative tone.

The poem explicitly frames present experiences as future memories, emphasizing the romantic transformation of ordinary moments through recollection.

Kemp reflects on his past, his family home, and the softening of memories over time.
