## Who they are

Gervasy serves the ruined castle and its claimant the Count, guarding the memory of the old lord's halls where the ancient families once dined and judged. He speaks with a lawyer's flourish and a servant's wounded pride, urging the Count to dismount and enter the castle rather than treat with the Soplicas. His refusal to accept the new order makes him the living grievance that keeps the lawsuit and the feud burning.
