Our Baseball Club and How It Won the Championship by Noah Brooks develops Community and Civic Pride across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The book centers on how the entire town of Catalpa rallies around its baseball club, with citizens, shopkeepers, and even the judge investing emotionally and financially in the team's success, treating the championship as a matter of collective honor.

The Catalpas represent their town, and their success or failure reflects on the community's identity and pride.

The entire town of Catalpa is invested in the championship game, with both sides of the river uniting against the common enemy, Jonesville.

The game draws the entire town, with spectators including Judge Howell and other citizens; the loss spurs talk of improving the local nine to restore honor.
