# James McWilliams — Our Baseball Club and How It Won the Championship character guide

> James McWilliams in Our Baseball Club and How It Won the Championship by Noah Brooks.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** McWilliams

**First appearance:** 0001-our-baseball-club-and-how-it-won-the-championship

## Snapshot

A lithe, agile fielder whose quick hands and quicker feet make him the kind of player captains build defenses around, even when the season ahead looks brutal.

## Who they are

McWilliams belongs to the circle of players whose fielding prowess gives the Catalpa Nine a fighting chance in a schedule crowded with tough matches. His agility on the diamond contrasts with the anxious talk among teammates about whether they can compete for the championship at all. He matters because his reliability in the field steadies a young club still testing its material during early-season pilgrimages.
