> Al Heaton in Our Baseball Club and How It Won the Championship by Noah Brooks.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Alexander, young Heaton, Heaton

**First appearance:** 0001-our-baseball-club-and-how-it-won-the-championship

## Snapshot

Albert Heaton's son and a Catalpa batsman, whose first appearance at the plate draws applause and nerves in equal measure.

## Who they are

Al Heaton steps to the bat amid a rustle of welcome from the crowded seats, admitting to Larry that he felt 'a little shaky' before the crowd braced his muscles. He drives a hard ball to right field only to see it neatly captured, part of the Catalpas' frustrating early innings against the Calumets' pitching. His jitters and his effort capture what it costs young men of standing to prove themselves on the diamond before neighbors and family.
