Nordenholt’s Million · Character
Wotherspoon
A pudgy, self-promoting populariser of other men's science, whose dabbling and need for the public eye make him an unlikely fixture in Nordenholt's orbit.

First appearance: iv panic
As a supporting figure in Nordenholt’s Million, Wotherspoon is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
Mentioned as part of the group considering Nordenholt's proposal.
Wotherspoon lectures and writes about real investigators without ever originating anything himself, yet his name carries weight with a public hungry for scientific authority. Flint recalls him with a mixture of pity and contempt, a man crushed by knowledge he never truly possessed. His presence marks the boundary between genuine expertise and the theatre of it.
