**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** McKechnie, the brooding and odious McKechnie

**First appearance:** 0001-no-more-parades

## Snapshot

A brooding, odious officer whose resentment of Tietjens curdles into the kind of grievance that outlives the war.

## Who they are

McKechnie nurses old injuries and new slights, his bitterness sharpened by the company of dubious men like the returned Jonce or Evanns. He watches Tietjens with an envy that has nothing to do with rank and everything to do with a wife and a life he cannot recover. His presence in the hut is a low, constant pressure — proof that the enemy is not always across the wire.
