# Peter Hay — Mystery at Lynden Sands character guide

> Peter Hay in Mystery at Lynden Sands by J. J. Connington.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** old Peter Hay, old Hay, Hay

**First appearance:** 0000-i-the-death-at-foxhills

## Snapshot

The elderly Foxhills caretaker, harmless and friendless by all accounts, whose murder turns a quiet investigation into something far darker.

## Who they are

Peter Hay kept the keys to the shuttered Foxhills and, by his own misunderstanding, the silver ornaments he thought valuable enough to move to his cottage. Miss Fordingbridge insists he had not an enemy in the world, which makes his death the case's most disquieting fact. The keys he carried and the trinkets he hoarded become the thread Sir Clinton follows into the empty house.
