# How does My First Summer in the Sierra develop the theme of Nature as Divine Revelation?

> My First Summer in the Sierra by John Muir

## Answer

My First Summer in the Sierra by John Muir develops Nature as Divine Revelation across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Muir portrays the Sierra Nevada as a living, sacred text where every rock, plant, and stream reveals God's handiwork, emphasizing that the wilderness is a source of spiritual insight and moral lessons.

Muir perceives the Sierra landscape as a direct manifestation of the divine, finding spiritual meaning in every natural element.

Muir refers to Yosemite as a 'temple' and the mountains as 'holy,' suggesting a spiritual dimension to nature.

Muir describes the landscape as radiating beauty like heat rays, and compares the falls to a 'death song' and the valley to a temple.
