First appearance: ii the affair in the maze
As a supporting figure in Murder in the Maze, Neville Shandon is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
A barrister recuperating at Whistlefield, deeply involved in the Hackleton case.
Neville Shandon has spent months dismantling the Hackleton defence, and the strain of that work hangs over him even in the quiet of Whistlefield. He regards his brother Ernest with a half-quizzical, half-contemptuous tolerance, and his professional habit of seeing concealed points makes him difficult to read. His prominence in a notorious case, and the enemies such prominence creates, shadow the maze murders from the outset.
