> Sir George Crofts in Mrs. Warren’s Profession by George Bernard Shaw.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Crofts, George, Sir George, a Lady Crofts

**First appearance:** 0002-act-i

## Snapshot

A bored, wealthy baronet and Mrs. Warren's business partner, who assumes his money entitles him to whatever — or whoever — he wants.

## Who they are

Crofts lounges through the rectory visit with the heavy boredom of a man who has bought his way out of every inconvenience, including his partnership with Mrs. Warren. He pursues Vivie with a mixture of entitlement and contempt, and his casual cruelty toward Frank exposes the ugliness beneath his gentleman's polish. His presence makes visible the money and the men that underwrite the Warrens' respectability.
