## Snapshot

A celebrated Polish acrobat and aviator who drops into the Tarletons' garden and makes everyone else look half-asleep.

## Who they are

Lina Szczepanowska arrives with the physical confidence of someone who has actually risked her neck, not merely read about adventure in a novel. She treats the Tarletons' sheltered world with amused contempt and refuses to be reduced to a romantic prize or a social ornament. Her vitality and independence make her the play's answer to Hypatia's longing—a woman who has made her own life, on her own terms, and dares anyone to disapprove.
