First appearance: misalliance
As a supporting figure in Misalliance, Lina Szczepanowska is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
Lina Szczepanowska arrives with the physical confidence of someone who has actually risked her neck, not merely read about adventure in a novel. She treats the Tarletons' sheltered world with amused contempt and refuses to be reduced to a romantic prize or a social ornament. Her vitality and independence make her the play's answer to Hypatia's longing—a woman who has made her own life, on her own terms, and dares anyone to disapprove.
