Master of the Lotus Farm, a prosperous, iron-willed father whose love for his daughter curdles into fury when she defies him.

## Who they are

Ramoun commands ploughmen, mowers, and shepherds with a word, and his farm's abundance is the measure of his standing in the valley. His tenderness for Mirèio is real but conditional — he cannot imagine her choosing beneath her. When he believes she has fled with a gypsy, his grief erupts as rage, and his order to summon every worker home reveals how completely his world revolves around her.
