**Role:** major

**Also known as:** Master Michael Teleki, Master Teleki

**First appearance:** 0005-iii-a-prince-in-his-own-despite

## Snapshot

The prince's silver-tongued minister, who arrives unannounced with a sealed league and a conscience flexible enough to call assassination statecraft.

## Who they are

Teleki moves through Transylvania's corridors of power as Apafi's trusted advisor, the man who carries secrets too dangerous for daylight. When he unveils the league against Banfi to the horrified Beldi, he reveals himself as a master of sophistry who argues that the axe of the executioner and the dagger of the bravo are merely different instruments of the same justice. His willingness to trade honor for political necessity makes him the engine of the novel's central conspiracy.
