> Gobo in Maiwa’s Revenge by H. Rider Haggard.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Mr. Gobo, Presently Gobo, the astonished Gobo, poor Gobo

**First appearance:** 0001-maiwa-s-revenge

## Snapshot

A Matuku man whose loyalty shifts toward the hunters, becoming a quiet but essential ally in the campaign against Wambe.

## Who they are

Gobo moves between the Matuku world and the white hunters' camp, a position that makes him both useful and vulnerable. His presence in the narrative signals that Wambe's tyranny has alienated his own people, not just outsiders, and that the coming war is as much internal as it is foreign. He is the kind of ally whose small choices quietly shape the expedition's chances.
