Friendship and Loyalty

The narrator Jeremy Garnet is drawn into Ukridge's chaotic plans out of friendship, enduring financial strain and social embarrassment, while the dedication and narrative emphasize the bond between old friends.

The dedication is a tribute to the friendship between Wodehouse and Bill Townend, crediting him for providing the foundational material.

Despite Ukridge's disruptive nature, Garnet's past friendship with him is evident, and Lickford's letter shows concern for Garnet's well-being.

Ukridge offers enthusiastic support and advice to Garnet, demonstrating their bond.

Garnet's decision to stay and face the consequences of Ukridge's actions, despite being abandoned, underscores his loyalty.
