# Lord Tony Dewhurst — Lord Tony’s Wife character guide > Lord Tony Dewhurst in Lord Tony’s Wife by Baroness Orczy. **Role:** major **Also known as:** Tony, Lord Anthony Dewhurst, Anthony Dewhurst, milor Anthony Dewhurst **First appearance:** 0001-lord-tony-s-wife ## Snapshot A shy, honorable young Englishman whose adoration of his French wife leaves him blind to the trap closing around them both. ## Who they are Lord Tony Dewhurst is a well-bred, tongue-tied Englishman who worships Yvonne with an openness that borders on helplessness, unable to refuse her anything, least of all a visit to her ailing father. His trusting nature and reluctance to suspect the worst make him easy prey for those who mean to use his wife against Blakeney's circle. When the blow falls, his stunned grief and quiet resolve carry the story into its rescue, and his devotion becomes the measure of what is at stake. ## Relationships ### [Yvonne de Kernogan](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/yvonne_de_kernogan) _romantic_ Lord Tony is deeply in love with Yvonne and acts as her devoted suitor and protector. ### [Sir Percy Blakeney](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/sir_percy_blakeney) _friendship_ Lord Tony is Sir Percy's loyal friend and fellow member of the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel. ### [Martin-Roget](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/martin_roget) _rivalry_ Lord Tony opposes Martin-Roget as a villainous revolutionary threatening Yvonne and the League. ### [Sir Percy Blakeney](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/sir_percy_blakeney) _friendship_ Lord Tony is Sir Percy's loyal friend and fellow member of the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel. ### [Yvonne de Kernogan](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/yvonne_de_kernogan) _romantic_ Lord Tony is deeply in love with Yvonne and acts as her devoted suitor and protector. ### [Sir Percy Blakeney](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/sir_percy_blakeney) _friendship_ Lord Tony is Sir Percy's loyal friend and fellow member of the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel. ### [Martin-Roget](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/martin_roget) _rivalry_ Lord Tony opposes Martin-Roget as a villainous revolutionary threatening Yvonne and the League. ### [Yvonne de Kernogan](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/characters/yvonne_de_kernogan) _romantic_ Lord Tony is deeply in love with Yvonne and acts as her devoted suitor and protector. ## In the story ### [Lord Tony's Wife](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/chapters/lord-tony-s-wife) Yvonne's husband, who discovers the betrayal and seeks to rescue her. ### [Book I: Bath, 1793](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/chapters/book-i-bath-1793) A young aristocrat in Bath, likely involved in the social scene and possibly connected to the Pimpernel's network. ### [III: The Assembly Rooms](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/lord_tony_s_wife_se/chapters/iii-the-assembly-rooms) Anxiously proposes elopement to Yvonne;
