## Who they are

Pancks works the Marshalsea Yard as a human engine of collection, snorting and puffing through his rounds for a master he barely respects. His discovery of the Dorrit inheritance makes him the unlikely hinge on which the family's entire transformation turns, and his blunt decency complicates the world of genteel pretension around him.
