## Who they are

Launcelot is the peerless knight whose prowess makes him the fixed star of Arthur's court, yet his love for Queen Guenever turns every triumph into a private wound. Exiled from his own name, he calls himself Le Chevaler Mal Fet, the knight that hath trespassed, and bears a sable shield with a crowned queen and a kneeling knight. He weeps daily toward Logris, and his refusal to be known shows how much of his greatness is bound up with what he cannot openly claim.
