## Snapshot

Called the enterprising Shen Heng, and sometimes the dull-witted Heng-cho, he is a schemer whose ambitions run ahead of his judgement.

## Who they are

Shen Heng moves through the tale as one of those busy, self-important figures who mistake cunning for wisdom and are forever calculating advantage. His aliases tell the story: enterprising to himself, dull-witted to others, a man whose schemes invite both mockery and consequence. He matters because Kai Lung's survival often turns on the vanity and miscalculation of such men, whose plots provide the storyteller with both danger and material.
