> Chou - Hu in Kai Lung’s Golden Hours by Ernest Bramah.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** the Barber Chou - Hu, Chou, O Chou - hu

**First appearance:** 0001-kai-lung-s-golden-hours

## Snapshot

A barber whose trade places him at the crossroads of gossip and intrigue, and whose actions quietly steer the plot's development.

## Who they are

Chou-Hu plies the barber's craft, a profession that brings him into intimate contact with the affairs of many households. That access makes him a natural conduit for rumor and a useful instrument for those who wish to shape events without appearing to. His interventions, however modest they seem, ripple outward through the story in ways the principals do not always foresee.
