# Momaya — Jungle Tales of Tarzan character guide

> Momaya in Jungle Tales of Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

**Role:** supporting

**First appearance:** 0004-v-tarzan-and-the-black-boy

## Snapshot

A black woman and mother of Tibo, whose fierce maternal devotion drives her to desperate measures when her child is taken into the jungle.

## Who they are

Momaya belongs to the village at the jungle's edge, a mother whose world narrows to the safety of her son Tibo. When the boy vanishes into the wild, her grief and determination push her toward the witch doctor Bukawai and whatever dark bargain might bring her child back. Her story runs alongside Tarzan's as a human counterpoint, showing that the jungle's cruelties are felt most sharply by those who love.
