# The Venonians — Invaders from the Infinite character guide

> The Venonians in Invaders from the Infinite by John W. Campbell.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Venonians

**First appearance:** 0022-xxiii-venone

## Snapshot

The Mighty Warless Ones of Venone, a vast and ancient civilization whose humane exile system bred the very enemy now consuming the galaxy.

## Who they are

The Venonians rule most of their universe, having banished their undesirables to Thett rather than execute them — a mercy that curdled into catastrophe when the prison world revolted six centuries ago. Their slow freighter fleets and cruiser escorts now ferry the hard truths of that war to Arcot and his crew, including the Twin-ray's origin and Thett's unbreakable fortresses. Their guilt and their knowledge make them essential brokers of the alliance, even as their own worlds remain pinned behind screens no ship can pierce.
