# How does Indiscretions of Archie develop the theme of Social Class and Identity?

> Indiscretions of Archie by P. G. Wodehouse

## Answer

Indiscretions of Archie by P. G. Wodehouse develops Social Class and Identity across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Archie, an upper-class Englishman with no money or job, navigates American society where his title and charm clash with his father-in-law's self-made wealth and disdain for idleness, highlighting tensions between old-world aristocracy and new-world meritocracy.

Archie's struggle to establish himself despite his lower social standing contrasts with the Brewster family's wealth and expectations.

Archie's lack of money and occupation is contrasted with Lucille's wealthy background, and Mr. Brewster's anger stems from class-based suspicions about Archie's motives.

Archie's self-deprecating wonder at Lucille's love and Mr. Brewster's disdain highlight class and worthiness concerns.
