# Archie Moffam — Indiscretions of Archie character guide > Archie Moffam in Indiscretions of Archie by P. G. Wodehouse. **Role:** major **Also known as:** Archie, Archibald Moffam, Mr. Moffam, Mrs. Archie Moffam **First appearance:** 0001-indiscretions-of-archie ## Snapshot A cheerfully impecunious Englishman whose charm and talent for disaster make him the most well-meaning menace ever to marry into a hotel magnate's family. ## Who they are Archie Moffam drifted into the Brewster dynasty on the strength of his smile and a wartime acquaintance with the song 'Mother's Knee,' and now finds himself the son-in-law of a man who regards him as a walking catastrophe. His genius for good intentions gone spectacularly wrong — whether coaching his brother-in-law from a self-help book or bringing a tramp into his father-in-law's bedroom — keeps him perpetually on the edge of domestic exile. He matters because every scheme he launches, however lunatic, is powered by genuine affection, and the gap between his intentions and their results is where the book lives. ## Relationships ### [Mr. Daniel Brewster](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/indiscretions_of_archie_se/characters/mr_daniel_brewster) _family_ Archie is the son-in-law of Mr. Brewster, who disapproves of him and frequently clashes with him over money and lifestyle. ### [Lucille Brewster Moffam](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/indiscretions_of_archie_se/characters/lucille_brewster_moffam) _family_ Archie and Lucille are a married couple, deeply in love but often navigating financial and familial tensions. ### [Reggie van Tuyl](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/indiscretions_of_archie_se/characters/reggie_van_tuyl) _friendship_ Archie and Reggie are close friends and frequent companions in social escapades and schemes. ### [Bill Brewster](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/indiscretions_of_archie_se/characters/bill_brewster) _family_ Archie and Bill are brothers-in-law, with Bill often acting as a supportive ally to Archie against their father. ### [Washington McCall](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/indiscretions_of_archie_se/characters/washington_mccall) _friendship_ Archie and Washington are friends, with Washington often involved in Archie's humorous misadventures. ### [Vera Silverton](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/indiscretions_of_archie_se/characters/vera_silverton) _romantic_ Archie and Vera have a flirtatious past, creating occasional romantic tension and jealousy with Lucille. ### [J.
