First appearance: The Son of Seven Queens
As a supporting figure in Indian Fairy Tales, Raja Sarkap is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
The king who banishes his son for buying the advice, later becomes blind from weeping and is healed by his son.
Raja Sarkap is a father caught between a vow and his children: when his new queen demands the blood of his first wife's seven daughters to save her own life, he cannot bring himself to kill them, so he leaves them sleeping in the jungle with a cooked meal and a lie. His weakness — a fear of breaking his word that outweighs his duty to his daughters — sets the whole tragedy in motion. He is the flawed origin of Balna's story, the man whose cowardice makes the princesses' marriages and later trials possible.
