# Laura Gale — His Family character guide > Laura Gale in His Family by Ernest Poole. **Role:** major **Also known as:** Laura, poor Laura, Laura Gale, Miss Laura **First appearance:** 0001-his-family ## Snapshot The youngest Gale daughter, radiant and very rich, drifts through parties and Paris gowns while her marriage quietly comes apart. ## Who they are Laura arrives in leopard skin and reddish hair, her limousine noiseless, her views on war and marriage delivered with amused superiority. She has no baby, spends like water, and is plainly at loose ends with her husband Hal — yet she is cocksure, calling the war a clearing away of musty relics and hinting at a glorious pagan era. To her father she is the giddy-gaddy child he can't quite reproach; to Deborah she is a puzzle; to herself she is simply living her life. ## Relationships ### [Roger Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/roger_gale) _family_ Laura is Roger's youngest sister, whom he cherishes and feels a strong paternal responsibility toward. ### [Deborah Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/deborah_gale) _family_ Deborah is a nurturing older sister to Laura, guiding her with gentle authority and affection. ### [Father Abraham](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/father_abraham) _family_ Father Abraham dotes on Laura as his youngest child, sharing a tender and protective bond with her. ### [Edith Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/edith_gale) _family_ Edith and Laura are sisters with a warm but sometimes distant relationship, as Edith's independence contrasts with Laura's innocence. ### [Deborah Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/deborah_gale) _family_ Deborah is a nurturing older sister to Laura, guiding her with gentle authority and affection. ### [Roger Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/roger_gale) _family_ Laura is Roger's youngest sister, whom he cherishes and feels a strong paternal responsibility toward. ### [Edith Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/edith_gale) _family_ Edith and Laura are sisters with a warm but sometimes distant relationship, as Edith's independence contrasts with Laura's innocence. ### [Father Abraham](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/father_abraham) _family_ Father Abraham dotes on Laura as his youngest child, sharing a tender and protective bond with her. ### [Father Abraham](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/father_abraham) _family_ Father Abraham dotes on Laura as his youngest child, sharing a tender and protective bond with her. ### [Roger Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/roger_gale) _family_ Laura is Roger's youngest sister, whom he cherishes and feels a strong paternal responsibility toward. ### [Deborah Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/deborah_gale) _family_ Deborah is a nurturing older sister to Laura, guiding her with gentle authority and affection. ### [Edith Gale](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/characters/edith_gale) _family_ Edith and Laura are sisters with a warm but sometimes distant relationship, as Edith's independence contrasts with Laura's innocence. ## In the story ### [His Family](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/his_family_se/chapters/his-family) Dines with her father;
