Chapter 2
Scene I
In the Parliament-house, York and his allies confront King Henry VI, demanding the crown. After a heated debate, Henry agrees to disinherit his son Prince Edward and name York as his heir, but Queen Margaret arrives and furiously condemns Henry's weakness, vowing to fight the decision.
Chapter 3
Scene II
At Sandal Castle, York's sons Richard and Edward, along with Montague, debate how to claim the crown. York reveals he swore an oath to let Henry reign, but Richard argues the oath is invalid because Henry is a usurper. York resolves to seize the throne and dispatches messengers to rally allies. A messenger arrives warning that Queen Margaret is approaching with 20,000 men. Despite being outnumbered, York decides to meet her in battle.
Chapter 4
Scene III
On the battlefield near Sandal Castle, young Rutland is confronted by the vengeful Lord Clifford, who murders him in cold blood to avenge his father's death at the hands of York.
Chapter 5
Scene IV
The Duke of York is captured by Queen Margaret, Clifford, and Northumberland after his army is defeated. Margaret mocks him with a paper crown and a napkin stained with his son Rutland's blood before she and Clifford stab him to death. York curses them and prophesies revenge. His head is ordered to be displayed on the gates of York.
