## Explanation

The arrival of mining, telegraph lines, and commercial enterprises like Storborg introduces modern economic forces that disrupt traditional agrarian life, often bringing greed and instability.

The arrival of the telegraph, the purchase of copper mine rights, and the painting of buildings symbolize the encroachment of modern developments into the wilderness.

The sewing machine, new cart, and farm improvements symbolize modernization and economic progress at Sellanraa.

Inger's focus on the sewing machine and fashionable cloak reflects the encroachment of modern urban values into rural life.

The telegraph line's construction brings outside workers and modern technology to Sellanraa, disrupting the isolated rural life and introducing new social dynamics.
