    Happy Jack

    Happy Jack Squirrel, after being chased by Shadow the Weasel and saved by Farmer Brown's boy, finds a new home in the old stone wall near Farmer Brown's house, where he feels safe and content.

    Happy Jack Drops a Nut

    Happy Jack Squirrel discovers a hickory tree full of nuts and tries to keep it secret from his cousin Chatterer the Red Squirrel. While gloating, he accidentally drops a nut on Chatterer's head, sparking a quarrel between the two cousins.

  3. Chapter 3

    II: The Quarrel

    Happy Jack Squirrel and Chatterer the Red Squirrel engage in a loud quarrel over a hickory tree full of nuts. Happy Jack accidentally drops a nut on Chatterer's head, and when Chatterer tries to climb the tree to get some nuts, Happy Jack chases him around the treetop, both calling each other names. Peter Rabbit arrives and covers his ears to avoid hearing the fight.

  4. Chapter 4

    Striped Chipmunk Is Kept Very Busy

    Striped Chipmunk, a thrifty and hardworking creature, observes the quarrel between Happy Jack the Gray Squirrel and Chatterer the Red Squirrel over nuts. While they argue, they knock down nuts from a hickory tree, which Striped Chipmunk eagerly collects to fill his new storehouse for winter.

  5. Chapter 5

    Happy Jack and Chatterer Feel Foolish

    Happy Jack Squirrel and Chatterer the Red Squirrel argue over a hickory tree full of nuts, chasing each other through the treetops until they exhaust themselves. When they finally stop to look, all the nuts have vanished. They realize that their quarreling caused the nuts to fall, and while they were distracted, Striped Chipmunk carried them away. Peter Rabbit laughs at their foolishness.
