## Who they are

Peter Rabbit is the forest's self-appointed discoverer, forever hopping toward whatever he has been told not to investigate. Drawn by gossip that Mrs. Bear has a secret, he creeps up to the great windfall and finds twin cubs instead, then thumps twice just to enjoy scaring them. His glee is short-lived and a little shameful, and it sets the twins' story in motion while exposing the small cowardice beneath his famous curiosity.
