> George Mackintosh in Golf Stories by P. G. Wodehouse.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** George, young Mackintosh

**First appearance:** 0000-archibald-s-benefit

## Snapshot

A young golfer who seeks salvation from his poor play and love life, only to be caught up in the schemes of the formidable Vincent Jopp.

## Who they are

George Mackintosh moves in the orbit of Vincent Jopp, the superman who approaches golf as a problem of Pure Reason and expects the same ruthless efficiency from everyone around him. George's own game and romantic hopes are modest by comparison, and he serves as a foil to Jopp's terrifying confidence. His presence sharpens the comedy of a world where a man can corner Woven Textiles but not a small white ball.
