## Who they are

Abe Clifford is the kind of old hand who states flatly that the radio, locator receiver, and navigational gear are all smashed, then leads a search party into the snow anyway. He and Ramón Llewellyn split the survivors to hunt for shelter, with Abe taking one team up the ravine while the wind drives snow straight into their faces.
